Awards & Scholarships
Student Awards: The National Office of the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi and local chapters of the society distribute more than $700,000 in awards and grants to students annually.
UNLV Chapter 100 Award
The Robert C. Maxson Phi Kappa Phi Graduate Fellowship is named for former UNLV President Robert Maxson, who created the Honors Program. One thousand dollars toward graduate school expenses is awarded annually by Chapter 100 to a UNLV senior in good standing who will be attending graduate school in or out of state in the upcoming school year.

National Phi Kappa Phi Awards:
Phi Kappa Phi awards more than $700,000 each year to outstanding students through various awards competitions, including fellowships, Phi Kappa Phi Scholar & Artist, Study Abroad Grants, Literacy Grants and Love of Learning awards. Fellowships: The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi currently awards fifty-one Fellowships of $5,000 each and five at $15,000 each to members entering the first year of graduate or professional study. Each Phi Kappa Phi chapter may select one candidate from among its local applicants to compete for the Society-wide awards. http://www.phikappaphi.org/Web/Awards/Fellowship.html
Literacy Grants: These are designed to encourage Phi Kappa Phi chapters and individual members to work on innovative projects that promote literacy in America. The Literacy Grants program was initiated in 2003 to mobilize members and resources of Phi Kappa Phi and the higher education community to champion literacy initiatives. Grants of up to $2,500 are available to Phi Kappa Phi chapters and individual members to fund ongoing literacy projects or to create new initiatives. The society’s commitment to the cause of literacy grows out of and is consistent with its mission, which was expanded to include “…and to engage the community of scholars in service to others.” For more on these awards,

Love of Learning Awards: Phi Kappa Phi will award 50 of these up, to $500 each. These awards will help fund post-baccalaureate studies and/or career development for active (dues current) members to include (but not be limited to): graduate and professional studies, doctoral dissertations, continuing education, career development, and travel related to teaching/studies, etc. Special consideration will be given to students who have earned academic awards, recognitions, and honors as an undergraduate/graduate student or in their professional career (such as scholarships, research grants, publications, juried shows, recitals, etc.) and have demonstrated activity on campus and in the community, possibly including leadership roles. Study Abroad Grants are open to ALL UNLV students, including non-Phi Kappa Phi members, majoring in any area of study, who have earned between 30 and 90 credits toward their baccalaureate degree with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale. Your study abroad plan should relate directly to your academic preparation, potential career choice, and/or commitment to the welfare of others. In your application be prepared to identify the goals you plan to accomplish if you are awarded this grant. You must already be enrolled in a Study Abroad program; for more information on this contact UNLV's Office of International Programs at 895-3896.
